Two E-mails from Michael Roll to Norman Pridmore, September 4, 2002

To Norman Pridmore of The Freethinker

As mentioned in a previous e-mail I have had another look at the letter that my colleague Stan Ford received from Professor Richard Dawkins - dated 22nd January 1992.

As we would expect from this great free thinking scientist it's brimming over with common sense regarding so-called paranormal phenomena. A copy is in the post. Every person in the world who has escaped from the clutches of priestcraft must have access to Professor Dawkins attitude to the study of life after death and related subjects. The religious fanatics who are tearing the world apart must be quickly isolated just as comprehensively as fully paid up members of the Flat Earth Society. Dawkins says:

"I strongly applaud your statement that, if such phenomena were demonstrated to exist, they would not be supernatural but natural. I said as much in the full version of the lecture, but unfortunately the passage was among many cut by the Producer because of lack of time and because he didn't like too many words between demonstrations. I am all for people making a proper search for evidence for supernormal phenomena."

To Norman Pridmore of The Freethinker

Norman,

we are your friends, not James Randi, Wiseman and Blackmore etc. They are professional wreckers masquerading as sceptics. They are guilty of keeping the priests, mullahs, rabbis, "holy" men, and worst of all, the crazy born-again Christians in power. And, as I have proved to you, at the same time raking in incredible amounts of money by playing the establishment game - making sure the secular scientific case for survival after death never hits the public. These pseudo-scientists, together with their religious allies, have almost total control of all media and educational outlets.

Michael Roll

"The time must come inevitably when mankind shall surmount the imbecility of religion, as it has surmounted the imbecility of religion's ally, magic. It is impossible to imagine this world being really civilized so long as so much nonsense survives. In even its highest forms religion embraces concepts that run counter to all common sense. It can be defended only by making assumptions and adopting rules of logic that are never heard of in any other field of human thinking."
-- Henry Louis Mencken (1880-1956), American journalist
